EMW 20

Augustine looked around and handed money to the servant. He had failed before, but he wouldn't fail this time.

His father told him not to make it obvious, but Augustine couldn't just wait forever.

If it weren't for that clueless Evelyn, he would have seen the poison going into Lady's mouth last time.

The only good thing was that Evelyn had been getting close to Veronica Lady lately, delivering cookies.

Either way, Lady would die if she got poisoned. And this was a warning to Cerden.

To ruin the banquet for Cerden and teach him a lesson. To keep him from interfering any further.

Augustine said quietly.

"You must not fail. Do you understand what I mean?"

"Yes, young master."

The servant disappeared into the darkness with the money and the item in his arms. Augustine, who had been staring at him, stepped out of the shadows.

"Hoo."

Augustine, pretending to smoke, strolled around the garden and then left.

Ugh. I detached myself from the balcony railing, where I had been hanging and looking outside.

Why does he always get caught by me? Why?

I had just escaped to the balcony because the banquet hall was stuffy.

It was a moment when people's attention was focused on Veronica and Cerden dancing.

But there was someone else plotting something while avoiding people's attention.

Seriously, stop getting caught.

Why do I keep seeing it!

I clearly remembered the servant's appearance. I don't know what he was ordered to do, but it couldn't be anything good.

He was a servant with curly hair and glasses. He was short, about 170cm tall. I hadn't seen him at the Crown Prince Palace or my palace, so he probably worked at the main palace or another palace.

Most of the servants working at today's banquet were said to have come from the main palace.

I stuck close to Veronica, pretending to be hungry.

Veronica, who had been dancing, turned to me with a flushed face.

"Where have you been? I was looking for you, Evelyn."

"I came to get this!"

I held up the cake on my fork, but in an instant, it was sucked into someone's mouth. I stared blankly at Cerden. He smiled smoothly at me.

"Are you giving this to me to eat? It's delicious. Then what will Evelyn eat? Chocolate?"

Of course, the direction my hand was pointing was towards you. But I wasn't giving it to you to eat, okay?

Cerden held out a chocolate to my mouth, and all I could do was take it and say,

"Chocolate is delicious!"

Veronica said with a smile.

"You two are surprisingly a good match."

Where did that curse come from? Cerden was still just suspicious of me. I'm just... feeling sorry for Cerden!

Besides, Cerden is an adult and I'm mentally five years old. How can we be a good match?

She's probably just saying it to be nice.

That's not what's important right now. Veronica added something else with a happy face, but I was busy looking for that servant from earlier.

I pretended to eat a lot and looked around. A servant, a servant.

And finally. The servant revealed himself among the dancing people. Then he did something around Empress Her Majesty and slipped away. There were so many servants walking around, and more than three servants were loitering around Empress Her Majesty, doing their own business.

No one paid attention to that servant.

I don't know what it is, but I need to check it out. To avoid suspicion, I picked up a glass full of juice and stood up.

"Where are you going?"

"Woong. I'm going to get something to eat over there!"

I shook off Veronica, who wanted to come with me, and started walking. Then I tapped the spot where the servant had been loitering with my shoe.

This. It looks like gunpowder.

So it doesn't matter if everyone here gets hurt. It's a very Spelman-like thing to do.

And it's also an arrogance that they're confident they'll never get caught this time either. I glanced at the glass of juice in my hand and then turned my attention to the chocolate fountain. The distance was good.

I checked my surroundings.

There were glances in my direction, but it didn't feel like they were paying much attention to me. Even if I fell now, those gazes would be the same.

They'll think a fool is doing something foolish. That's why they even think about doing something like this.

I took a deep breath and threw myself forward.

I pulled the tablecloth as naturally as possible while slipping.

"Aaaah!"

And at that moment, for some reason, I made eye contact with Cerden. It was a gaze I hadn't noticed earlier.

Cerden narrowed his eyes. As if he had been watching me all along.

I got goosebumps all over my body. Even though I was covered in warm, melted chocolate.

"Ugh, uaaaaaah!"

I burst into tears. Fortunately, tears were pouring out. The juice in my hand rolled across the floor, and I was covered in melted chocolate.

While averting my eyes from Cerden. And I made sure that the suspicious object the servant had hidden was also covered in chocolate.

People buzzed and surrounded me.

"Your Highness, are you alright?"

"Oh my god, what is this...! Call a doctor immediately!"

"That idiot is doing something idiotic again..."

"Tsk. She's ruining the imperial family's dignity again."

"Is that Crown Princess really the right one?"

Even though criticism was pouring out at me, there were no words of suspicion. That was fortunate. I raised my voice in tears. Hoping someone would get me out of here.

Unfortunately, a five-year-old cannot save themselves. So I can't save myself from this situation either. I just had to be a child covered in chocolate.

Cerden appeared through them. The moment I made eye contact with Cerden, who was approaching me, I hiccuped without realizing it.

Cerden was looking at me. Before, and now too.

If I felt like he was the only one on my side among the people here, was I going crazy?

A sincere sob escaped.

"Hic, hwaaa..."

I quickly reached out to Cerden.

"Husband, hic... I, I'm hurt... Hwaaa!"

Even though I was a mess, I wasn't embarrassed because I had shown all sorts of strange things before. I just couldn't forget the look in his eyes when I fell.

I wanted to be in Cerden's arms. I wanted to confirm that that man wouldn't turn away from me.

Just like always.

Just like how he reached out to me even when I was in a shameful state, please, this time too.

"She must be crazy. Showing that mess to Your Highness, the Crown Prince..."

It was the moment I heard someone's criticism.

Fortunately, Cerden grabbed my arm and lifted me up. I hugged Cerden's neck tightly and burst into tears even more.

"Everyone, step back. Is there something to see?"

Veronica's voice was heard. People slowly stepped back, and servants who had been called by Veronica surrounded the area.

Cerden patted my back. I just clung to Cerden like a koala and swallowed my hiccups and tears.

"Evelyn caused the accident, so why are you crying?"

That voice felt strangely warm. Unlike Cerden.

"N-no, hic. I didn't do anything wrong!"

A sense of relief washed over me. He didn't turn away from me.

Cerden pulled me away slightly and brushed my hair back. Then he slowly examined my tearful face.

"Where are you hurt?"

"I, I'm hurt."

I snuggled up to Cerden, whining for no reason. Being held this tightly made me feel like I was really five years old. I felt protected.

I thought I was alone here, but at this moment, I wasn't alone. Cerden was by my side. My heart fluttered.

Cerden gently opened the door to my heart and came in. Cerden's footprints remained inside.

My body relaxed languidly. The voices of the people pointing fingers and talking grew farther and farther away.

I was safe in his arms. I was sure that what I had impulsively done today was right.
